At the Bakery

Secret Service and Village Sounds are proud to announce tasty English five-piece HOT CHIP will perform club shows in Perth, Sydney and Melbourne respectively, when they return to wow Australian audiences this August for the sold out Splendour In The Grass in Byron Bay.

Making their first sojourn to the west, these performances are now your only chance to catch them live this tour. Tickets to these satellite shows go on sale 9 AM on FRIDAY, JUNE 8.

Constantly evolving and defying expectations with their quirky house-influenced beats and melodies, HOT CHIP is Alexis Taylor (vocals/keyboard), Joe Goddard (beat master/vocals), Owen Clarke (Keyboards/guitar), Felix Martin (drums / MPC), Al Do It (guitar).

Their astounding ability to write cracking pop tunes such as the immaculate summer hit “Over and Over” from the equally brilliant breakthrough album ‘The Warning’ saw them nominated for the coveted Mercury Music Prize in 2006.

“They are Prince-adoring, R&B-loving, two-step worshipping electro-funkers with a cheeky attitude… They have pulled off the trick of not taking things too seriously, yet still produce some seriously good music… There’s not many bands out there who can fuse rave-era beats, crowd roars, battling 303 drum patterns and swelling synths to make a coherent electrifying whole.” – NME

This month, DJ-Kicks: Hot Chip hits the shelves which features a mix of some of their favourite music by luminaries including Ray Charles, Black Devil Disco Club, New Order, Joe Jackson and Etta James. In keeping with DJ-Kicks custom, the group also contributed a new and exclusive track of their own called My Piano, to the album.

HOT CHIP: not just the critics’ choice, the people love them too! Their shows this August are sizing up to be this year’s, well HOT ticket.
